Monstera Albo Borsigiana: Quick Care Guide

Updated: Dec 24, 2020

Origin:

Southern Mexico and Panama/ Thailand

Other names:

Swiss Cheese plant

Soil:

Very prone to root rot, thus well draining soil is a must.

Light:

Bright indirect/ semi shade. Requires more light than their all green counterparts. Is, however, sensitive to direct light (lots of direct light especially in the South African sun, can cause burning of the leaves). A few hours of direct early morning sun is fine, but avoid afternoon sun.

Water:

Water thoroughly once a week. The key is to allow the soil to dry out in between watering. When watering, check to see that the water is running through the soil quickly. Remove excess water from the plant dish.

Temperature:

These plants are hardy and can withstand colder temperatures. However, it would be happiest if the temperature is kept between 18-30 degrees celsius (min. 5 degrees celsius)

Humidity:

60% and above is optimum

Fertilizer:

Fertilize once a month during Spring and Summer. A well balanced 202020 NPK fertilizer is recommended. Do not fertilize in Autumn and Winter
